Google Friend Connect for your website or blog

March 1st, 2009

Google’s Friend Connect connects your friends to your website or blog easily.

Simply said, Friend Connect is a Web 2.0 tools for your website.

It allows your friends or visitors with Google, Yahoo, AIM and OpenID account to join your website network and participate in various social actions should you choose to add gadgets or applications.

Friend Connect uses OpenID for signin, oAuth to control data, and Open Social for applications.

It’s fairly easy and quick to get Friend Connect up and running with your website or blog.

All you’d need to do is :

1) Sign in to Friend Connect

2) Click on Setup a new website

3) Provide your website URL and details

4) Upload 2 files to your webserver

5) Copy the members gadget code to your website/blog

6) Optional : Add more gadgets or application

Do note that the whole process does not require any programming at all.

The toughest part might be to upload the 2 files to your webserver?

Watch the Friend Connect introduction below:

I have installed the Friend Connect members gadget onto my sidebar.

Please join my site if you have a Google account. 😉

I should start getting my Open Social application What Say U? to Friend Connect and then run it in my blog already.
