Google Wave robot in action and Wave Invites for grabs

November 5th, 2009

During the last GTUG KL Wave hackathon, I have made (hacked) a quick and dirty (yes, dirty) Google Wave robot.
I have subsequently posted about how to use the Google Wave Java API and some of the sample code from my Wave robot.

I have recorded the function of the Wave robot. Watch the demonstration video below, to see how the Wave robot functions.

Below is a screenshot of my very new Google Wave control center πŸ™‚

Oh, by the way, I found out I have 13 more Wave invites!

If you want one, just leave a comment below telling me any one of the following:
1) What do you think of my sample Wave Robot
2) What Wave gadgets or robots idea you think would be nice
3) Why would you want a wave invite

Simple isn’t it. Let’s wave!

      In the previous comment, I haven’t answered your questions:

      1 – I like robots so even your
      2 – Information on my PC for example when you turn when you turn off
      3 – I am very curious

      Hi brother,
      I know you from twitter, and could you send me a Google wave invitation.
      And you ask me to answer three question as follow,here is the answer,Hah:
      1) What do you think of my sample Wave Robot

      // I watched the video just now and I think it is “Dam Cool” as you say,hah. But…(Plz reference to the question 2,hah)and If I can use Google wave, I could give you some more suggestion.

      2) What Wave gadgets or robots idea you think would be nice

      If it can hi-light the word, I think it is better.

      3) Why would you want a wave invite
      // The reason is the same of Zhane, because I have not an invite yet.

      @Alessandro
      @Flevivoip

      You’ve got them : http://img695.imageshack.us/i/waveinvites.png/
      Do note that it’ll take a few days for Google to send out the invite.
      When you’ve got them, remember to add me up!

      Hi Marvin,
      I just watched the video on Yutube(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziRpLV4bUFY&feature=player_embedded), it is a really cool function.
      1) What do you think of my sample Wave Robot
      It a cool function, especially using on the commercial conversation.

      2) What Wave gadgets or robots idea you think would be nice

      Like Flevivoip’s suggestion, the Robot can hi-light the word or added underline to the word which need to filter.

      3) Why would you want a wave invite
      The reason is the same as everyone who leave the message,heh…
      because I have not an invite.

      Thanks in advance.

      Hi Marvin,
      Why don’t you introduce Google Wave robot on twitter? It’s a better way to tell every body the advantage of the robot.

      1) What do you think of my sample Wave Robot
      It’s really neat πŸ™‚ Cool demo. I think it would be even better if you could have the robot replace the whole word with asterisks if it deems it to be profane.

      2) What Wave gadgets or robots idea you think would be nice
      Hmmm, one that corrects your spelling maybe? Perhaps there is already one that does that!

      3) Why would you want a wave invite
      I think it would be great for organising a primary school musical as it would allow all the organisers to create and edit shared to do lists, share costume ideas and pictures and discuss everything in one place where there’s a record of it that can be played back and reviewed.

      Of course it is cool!

      2) What Wave gadgets or robots idea you think would be nice
      Not sure, because i didnt get my hand dirty with Wave yet. Maybe URL shortener, It can alert via email if somebody is discussing about me… hehehe.

      3) Why would you want a wave invite
      Oh, I want to study the Wave API. Can give ah?

    14. November 6th, 2009 at 18:13 | #14

      What do you think of my sample Wave Robot ?
      Great bot, make the conversation safe and no dirty word.

    15. November 6th, 2009 at 22:55 | #15

      @braendan
      Braendan, I’d appreciate just a simple comment what robots idea you think would be cool or why you’d want one πŸ™‚

      @sunmux
      Hmm, could you elaborate on how to introduce Google Wave robot on twitter? Btw, your invitation has been added. πŸ™‚

      @Dani
      @fazlee
      @Fahmishah

      First of all, Thanks for your invitation.

      Of course, the robot is using on wave, you can tweet the key words like”An very interesting feature on Wave” and leave an short link to this article. But don’t tweetβ€œHi guys,who need Google Wave invitation,and click here(There will be a url link to your website)”,this message will be reply by Non-Google waver who only want get an invitation!

      In addition, the best way is post this introduction on Google wave to let every Waver (your wave friend) to know this cool feature.Them will give you more better suggestion.

      Finally, thank you again and have a nice day.

    17. November 7th, 2009 at 07:15 | #17

      @sunmux
      Oh yeah, that’s a very good suggestion. You’re right there, instead of getting non-google waver, that way we’ll get people who are seriously interested in Wave. Thanks to you too. πŸ˜‰
