Get Better Online Meetings with Webex

April 5th, 2010

World has gotten smaller because of internet.

Not because the planet has shrunk, but due to the fact that we can communicate instantly with another person on the other side of the globe instantly, ear-to-ear, face-to-face.

I have used a few video conferencing tools but what seems to be popular now for a commercial product seems to be WebEx.

WebEx is company that provides on-demand collaboration, online meeting, web conferencing and videoconferencing applications. It has since been acquired by Cisco in 2007 and is now a subsidiary of Cisco Systems.

It’s a subscription service though, and you can try it with 14 days free trial. Users are free to join, only the party who want to host a meeting will need to purchase the license.

It supports sharing of application on your desktop or the entire desktop.

Audio and visual works together.

Clients supported are wide, almost all operating systems and even 3g mobile devices.

The client program might need a few minutes to be downloaded to your computer, so if you’re invited as an attendee, try to test or download the client program earlier to ensure you join the meeting on time.

Watch the quick-tour here or try it out yourself for free.

Have you used WebEx before? Do you have any other better online meeting software that you would recommend?
