YouTube Live

YouTube has been the most popular user generated video site around and even the kids now are using less of Google but searching information with YouTube!

YouTube has recently launched YouTube live channel on 22nd Nov 2008 at http://www.youtube.com/live with a big live concert event, streaming on internet.

Celebrities, Web celebs and major artists, including the mad scientists from the Mythbusters crew, will.i.am, Lisa Nova, Michael Buckley, and Joe Satriani joined the celebrations, and YouTube offered three live streams direct from its Live channel.

Their live video now available at the Live channel could probably be the longest video on YouTube with the duration of 2:06:49!

It has been a long awaited move by many especially YouTube team to be able to run live video streaming.

“Live video is just something that we’ve always wanted to do, we’ve never had the resources to do it correctly, but now with Google, we hope to launch something this year,” answered Chen.

Steve Chen is the co-founder of YouTube.

Now that they have the resources to do it, the million dollar question now is, where or how are they going to monetize the YouTube Live project? They are still trying to figure out slowly how to monetize their user generated video in general at the moment. 🙂

Does this mean the trend is staying at home and watch live concert on computers in the future?
